Cleaners W4 Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Cleaners W4 in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Cleaners W4 provides professional cleaning services and recognises that our responsibilities extend beyond our own workforce to everyone who contributes to delivering our services.
Modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded and child labour, and human trafficking. Cleaners W4 is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not take place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
Zero-Tolerance Commitment
Cleaners W4 has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly work with any organisation, supplier, subcontractor or individual that is involved in, or associated with, modern slavery practices. Our commitment applies to every level of our operations, from recruitment and employment conditions to procurement and contractor management.
All team members, including management, supervisors, cleaners and administrative staff, are required to comply with this policy and to uphold the highest standards of honesty, integrity and respect for human rights. Any breach of this policy by our employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Where suppliers or subcontractors are found to be in breach, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits
Our supply chains primarily include providers of cleaning materials, equipment, uniforms, facility services and ancillary business support. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can arise in manufacturing, logistics, and lower-wage labour markets, and we are committed to assessing and reducing these risks.
Cleaners W4 carries out proportionate due diligence and audits of key suppliers and subcontractors. This includes requesting information on their labour practices, working conditions, use of subcontracted labour, and compliance with modern slavery laws. Where appropriate, we may also request copies of their own modern slavery statements or policies, and we expect them to cascade similar standards down to their own supply chains.
We regularly review supplier performance, and where concerns or red flags are identified, we may conduct additional checks, request corrective action plans, or discontinue the relationship. Our supplier terms and conditions require adherence to all applicable labour and human rights legislation.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaners W4 encourages all employees, workers, contractors, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices in our business or supply chains. Individuals may raise concerns directly with line managers or with senior management. Reports may be made confidentially and will be treated seriously, fairly and sensitively.
We are committed to protecting any person who raises a concern in good faith from victimisation, retaliation or detrimental treatment. All reports will be investigated promptly, and appropriate action will be taken where issues are substantiated. This may include engaging with suppliers to implement corrective measures, reporting relevant matters to authorities, and, where necessary, ending business relationships.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
To support our zero-tolerance approach, we provide appropriate information and guidance to relevant employees so they can recognise indicators of modern slavery and understand how to respond. We promote awareness of this statement and our expectations through internal communications and induction for new starters who are involved in recruitment, procurement or supplier management.
We understand that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility and that labour exploitation risks can change over time. Cleaners W4 is committed to continuous improvement in our approach, including better risk assessment, stronger supplier engagement, and clearer internal procedures.
Annual Review and Governance
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least once every year by senior management at Cleaners W4 to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with relevant legislation and best practice. As part of the annual review, we assess our progress, reflect on any issues encountered, and identify priority actions for the coming year.
Any significant changes to our business model, supply chains or risk profile will trigger an interim review if required. Updated versions of this statement will replace earlier versions to ensure that employees, suppliers and stakeholders are aware of our current commitments and expectations. This statement has been approved by the leadership of Cleaners W4, who are responsible for its implementation and for providing the resources needed to uphold these standards.
